Game 5/31 and Sponsorship

Big game this weekend against the arch rivals Azul. We'll need to have our A game on to pull off the win.  We currently sit tied for third, technically in forth with the tie breaker. Azul is within reach in second. Let's go out there and get the win!! Hopefully the bye week doesn't affect us too much.

It's going to be hot; apparently because Gilbrough is playing.  Be sure to bring plenty to drink.  Debra and I will have the orange slices for the new traditional half time treat.  Looks like we'll have at least a sub for each gender (maybe 2 if folks get their priority's straight) so let's be sure to use them.  The game is late enough in the day that I expect the effects of party after the Sounders win Friday will have subsided.

On the sponsorship front: Much effort has been put in buy folks on the team, some more than others, to frequent Naked City who we are courting as a sponsor.  They recently had a budget meeting and our sponsorship was discussed.  I spoke with the manager last night and we are for sure in the running.  They want to buy us shirts and help pay some of our season fees.  This is not a done deal but getting closer to reality.  That said, we probably should try to have a pint there after the game Sunday, I know its a drive from south Seattle but some of us live in the area so why not.  Any thoughts on a team name if we are sponsored by them? Last night the manager there mention Naked City Players...

See you on the pitch

Sundays Game - 5/17

Great game team. We totally should have won but the mix up with the time and the late goal by the Blue Fish caused us to end with a tie. Solid work up front for Bryan, Karie, Karl, and Will (when he wasn't defending). Speaking of defense we left those folks on islands a couple of times and they came through. Mike G., Greg, Will, Mara-Lisa, and Larissa really held down the back third of the field. When they couldn't get there goalie Mike was there. The mid field (the few folks that played there as it seemed to be a long ball game) held their own, Mike Little was a force in the middle and Jennie, Debra and super sub Katie supported on the wings.

After going into then half down 1 to nil, the 2nd half started with a flurry by the BOC (possibly due to the Orange slices provided by Liam). Brian had a great assist to Will to put us on the board and tie the game 1 -1. The sea of blue (as they were white today) continued to pressure the defense. Midway through the 2nd half, Karl shot one on goal that had enough behind it to power its way through the goalie's hands. Sadly many other opportunities were missed but there was good pressure and several shots on goal.

The last 4 minutes, opps I mean 15 minutes, the BOC was under pressure. We had changed our style based on the time given by the ref. This resulted in an offsides goal (yes it stands) by the other team.

So we looked like the Sounders this week, definitely the better team on the pitch (wait they played like crap, sorry about that comparison) but coming out with a draw. That puts us at 3 -3 -1 for the season with 3 games left.

No game next week due to the holiday weekend. Next game is against Azul the arch enemies so bring your game face.

Possible Sponsorship

5/17 - We are in discussions with the Naked City Tap House about possible sponsorship of our soccer team moving forward. They are planning on sponsoring 2 teams and we are one of the current three. I'll keep folks posted on the progress of these efforts.

Sunday Slices

5/17 - We discussed implementing the fact we get Orange slices at all games moving forward. They were such a great lift at half time this past game (Thank Liam!!) that it was decided by upper management to continue the trend.

That said next game (in two weeks) the sliced will be provided by Karl and Debra. Moving forward it would be great if folks volunteered to bring them. It works out to be about 4 -5 oranges cut into quarters.

Please comment on what you think about this initiative.
