A lot of teams are red this season (4 out of 6). That means there are a lot of games where we'll need to bring white.
There are a few folks that still have to pay. Looks like we might need a lady for the winter but we'll have to see if Jen has healed up over the holidays.
Happy Holidays and I'll see you on the pitch.

Cougar Hunting!?
First great game last night, after about 20 shots over the bar we finally got one in thanks to a great header by Bruce. They really never sniffed the goal except when I decided to make it interesting and had to run my ass off to get the one I let bounce by me. Great game by the defense and the offense kept the pressure on them. We are now 3 - 1 - 3 (W-D-L) after starting the season with 3 straight losses.
Second, the showing at the pub was a little lame but at least we had a full table. I'll let you know what I hear about the funding possiblities once I hear back. To carry on with the conversation from last night, Will I found a great website for you - http://cougarlife.com/. Also, MLS apparently doesn't weight away goals, from the Sounders website -
Conference Semifinal series are conducted in a home-and-home, aggregate-goal format. The lower seeded team hosts the first game. The team that scores the most goals in the home-and-home series advances to the single-elimination Conference Championship. If the teams are tied after 180 minutes in the Conference Semifinal series, a 30-minute extra time period (divided into two 15-minute periods) will be played, followed by kicks from the penalty spot, if necessary. Also here is a recap of the Sounders win
Third, several of you still have to pay for the winter season, please bring your money/check to the next game.
Finally, we now have had two injuries in the last two games. Mike Little broke his foot last night (or he finished breaking the fracture). And super sub Steve ruptured his patella tendon the previous week. He had surgery last week and is on the road to recovery. Our thoughts are with them and we hope to see them back on the pitch soon (but only once fully recovered).
That's all for now, see you next weekend.

It's been a while
It seems we have a bit of the injury bug on the team as well. Greg is out with a broken toe for a few weeks, Mara-Lisa has a broken nose and is on rest by doctors orders, Liam has some broken down ankles, Mike G is just getting normal color back in his toe, Mike Little has a foot issue, Kari has the flu and it maybe of the swine kind, Kate Hasz is out for a while with an ACL injury, and several others have nagging injuries as well. That means we need folks to respond as soon as they can with their status for the weeks game so we can be sure we field a full team.
This weeks game is against the Super Hero Rejects...not sure what that name is about be we need to be victorious this weekend. To start the winning ways I am planning to bring the Orange tradition back, so Orange slices for half time. As usual pints will be consumed post match at the Naked City, attendance is mandatory.
Last note, Sounders have a game on Sat against the New England Revolution. A win almost guarantees a playoff spot so lets go boys!!
I leave you with this crazy goal, we have nothing to complain about with our refs...

Recap and Rules of Pinting
As for the post game pinting. Some rules need to be pointed out.
- Come as you are there is no showering (unless you were really bloody)
- Wear your jersey (show some pride)
- Attendance at the pub will determine status for next season (OK not really but you should come out)
- If you score an own goal, you owe the goalie and defense a pint
- Sounders can't suck that bad ever again (hopefully they read this)

Done Deal
Looks like we should get them sometime late next week or shortly after that. We'll have to see about wearing them for the rest of the season as there are a few orange teams and that is generally a conflict. But when we play the other colors I assume we can wear them.
As for the game this weekend, its a late morning game way out on the Eastside. We are currently in a tie for third place, 1-0-1 (W-T-L), in the league and these guys are in 2nd with a record of 1-1-0. Looks like we have good numbers for the game.
Anyone want to bring Oranges? -- Update: Mara-Lisa has volunteered for this week

7/5 game recap
What a great victory!! A hard fought 2 - 1 win. Many thanks goes out to Mike G. for his superior goal keeping, some clutch saves. Overall a solid game by the entire team. The defense did a great job of keeping them on the outside and not letting them cross to the middle, and when they did the chances we well challenged. Greg gets one of the more interesting hat tricks I've seen by scoring all the goals in the game (including an own goal). Hats off to the ladies who played a good portion of the game without a sub, I know I couldn't have done that after drinking all day on the 4th. Bryan and Liam did a great job making the runs up front; Lowell slowed them down at midfield. And can I mention the fact the defense was solid on more time?
Next game is against Gamaka who were near the bottom of D1 last season. The game is another 11:15 game but way out on the Eastside at Perrigo. The Sounders game is at 1pm on Sat so hopefully folks we be better recovered than the late games.
One last note, all the jersey sizes have been submitted. If you didn't update the site I used others to decide your size. The order has not been submitted officially so there is still time but let me know what size you want. Order should go out soon, just need to get the final pricing and payment together.

6/21 Game and some housekeeping
The jersey lady (Lisa) showed up at the end of the game (for the folks that weren't there). I need you all to update your Team Cowboy profile with your size (click update profile in the upper right under the donate image). A few notes for those of you who weren't there, sizes seem big - Greg was thinking a large, Ellen was a small, Debra was a medium. No numbers for us so that is optional. Remember that in the winter we'll need to wear undershirts, unless you are crazy, so factor that in. I am hoping to get the order together early next week.
Subs - just to be clear, there will be an email sent out when we need you folks. Until you get the email, please don't reply to the attendance (unless you can't make the game - but even then that isn't necessary). I want to be sure the folks that pay get enough playing time. Also, we are only getting jerseys for the full time folks but I am getting a few extras for when subs play.
Finally, no game next week. There is a Sounders Sunday home game (and a few of us are running the 1/2 marathon on Sat). Next game is July 5th so if you are out of town please respond to the attendance as soon as you can (nice job Ellen!).
See you on the pitch (or at the pub)

Last Game of the Spring, First game of the Summer
Overall a solid game, much thanks to Lowell and Mike for their superior keeping. The defense also held their own back there after the midfield left them hanging several times. The ladies on the wings and up top were solid, making some great runs and crosses.
We close out the season with a 4 - 2- 4 record. We start the new season facing a team that dropped from D1. We have played them in the past and never really fared all that well. That means we need to bring the A game and be ready for a battle.
Please be sure to wear white as our color until further notice. I am hoping the woman I am working with to get jerseys will be there with some sample sizes, styles, and colors. If you can get there by no later than 11 that would be great (earlier would be great as well). This will give us a chance to see the jerseys, feel them, and validate the sizes.
Bryan is on the hook for Oranges as a disciplinary action for missing last week's game on such short notice (actually he volunteered with a little poking). Pints will be at Naked City afterwards hopefully with a final decision on jerseys.
Be sure to update your status on Team Cowboy!

Summer Season Schedule
As for the sponsorship, I was there on Tuesday and spoke with Rachaal the manager. She requested we go with a darker color (instead of white or silver). We negotiated Red, so that takes care of the color. Once I got that dealt with, it basically comes down to getting some samples of the jerseys. I am going to try to meet with the lady I am working with and have Naked City weigh in (since they are getting some for their folks). Looks like our best options with her are the High 5 jerseys. I will keep you all posted on what happens. Hopefully we can get these halfway through the season.

6/7 Recap
The lone goal was scored by Karl, off the left foot none the less. Liam and Ellen had a bunch of opportunity up top but couldn't get them past the old man goalie (he is quite wily). Kate, Sarah, Mara-Lisa, and Jenny did a great jobs on the wings. Larisa and Debra stopped or slowed down most of the runs down the sides. Will, Lowell and Mike L were all over the midfield and Mike G wan a anchor in the back.
We still need to figure out how to do a better job transitioning from the midfield to the offense. We seem to somehow get lost in that transition if it isn't long balls. The grass today didn't help as it was a slower game and they seemed to have a step on us. We did win the post game pint-a-thon, remaining undefeated in that event.
Next weekend is a late game (7 pm)on the Eastside at Marymoor , this is the last game of the Spring Season. I'll try to post next seasons schedule before that game. Please remember to activate your Team Cowboy account, if you didn't get an invite let me know.

Let's get Naked
As for the game this weekend let's pick up a win. It has been a while and we need to break ranks with the Sounders, unless of course they win tonight. Looks like we have a few maybes for guys this week...priorities boys. I have not found subs since it looks like they can both make it, plus we'll have enough ladies so at least we won't be short on the field.
I am expecting big things this weekend from our offense, we need goals people. The defense has been solid, midfield...(yeah that is me)...we need to pick it up and get back on defense or up on offense. Hopefully we'll have a sub so folks can get s few breaks. Mike K is up on the Orange detail this week, I'll be looking for volunteers for next weeks game
In other news, Summer packet pickup is Thursday. I'll do my best to post the new schedule before the Sunday game. With us moving to a new team name (although not for summer) we'll probably be moving to Team Cowboy for our schedule/attendance. More to come on all that soon
See you on the pitch.

5/31 Game recap
Let's start with that was a pretty good tie...it's always good to get a point against those guys. The amazing goal was setup by Sarah taking the foul. Bryan took the free kick and Will was in the right place to put it in the net, past what I consider the best goalie in our division. After going into the half down 1 to 0 (at least the way I remember it) the orange slices regenerated the team and we had a great 2nd half. We had some great chances and didn't give them too many. Overall great job on defense. The front line did a great job getting free (especially on the wings). MVP goes to Will for the goal, Gordie Howe award goes to Greg (who got a red).
Post game events we had at Naked City. It was a strong showing with at least 8 team members and some of their significant others. There is really nothing new to report on the sponsorship front but I have sent a followup email and am waiting for a response.
Next week is against George, we have played them in the past. The game is at 2:45 at Mountlake Terrace - on a grass field. Should be fun!!
Mike K is on the hook for the orange slices

Game 5/31 and Sponsorship

Sundays Game - 5/17
After going into then half down 1 to nil, the 2nd half started with a flurry by the BOC (possibly due to the Orange slices provided by Liam). Brian had a great assist to Will to put us on the board and tie the game 1 -1. The sea of blue (as they were white today) continued to pressure the defense. Midway through the 2nd half, Karl shot one on goal that had enough behind it to power its way through the goalie's hands. Sadly many other opportunities were missed but there was good pressure and several shots on goal.
The last 4 minutes, opps I mean 15 minutes, the BOC was under pressure. We had changed our style based on the time given by the ref. This resulted in an offsides goal (yes it stands) by the other team.
So we looked like the Sounders this week, definitely the better team on the pitch (wait they played like crap, sorry about that comparison) but coming out with a draw. That puts us at 3 -3 -1 for the season with 3 games left.
No game next week due to the holiday weekend. Next game is against Azul the arch enemies so bring your game face.

Sunday Slices
That said next game (in two weeks) the sliced will be provided by Karl and Debra. Moving forward it would be great if folks volunteered to bring them. It works out to be about 4 -5 oranges cut into quarters.
Please comment on what you think about this initiative.
